A thousand words of gratitude like vines cradling crowns of grapes would not do justice to our patrons to impart the truth about how much we love to craft wine and share it with the people. Time apart seems like lifetimes while we wait to counsel together with the wines and each other, yet when we revisit it feels like its been only seconds because of the happy familiarity that is illuminated at Fellom Ranch Vineyards.
We rediscover ourselves by hearing of the uproarious laughter and fascinating intricate tales that circulate through the Ranch. Since the last time we wrote a post, we had two major events, 'Home is Where the Wine Is' on May 18, 2024 and Zinfandel Release party this June 21, 2025. Last weekend October 18th we had a wonderful warm Fall Tasting with more invitees from our mailing list. We want to send a special thank you to those who could join us and to those who sent us nice messages explaining why they couldn't be there, we miss you all! For all three events over 300 people participated and half brought picnics or snacks to enjoy at our outdoor tasting plaza which shares a range of tables and seating. The weather was ethereal each time and we couldn't have asked for more perfect days or perfect guests.
We offered our trusty white to red spectrum of featured wines. Unlike any other winery in the world, our winetastings involve contemplating Cabernet Sauvignons from our estate vineyard that is pillared in Franciscan Chert red stone with white quartz mineral streak. This is one of the many accentuations of our unique highland chaparral micro terroir. California Bay Laurel and Sticky Monkey Flower Sage alight in the dazzling Tule air tides. Rows of marching Walnut trees parade with sprinkling fruit trees and Concord table grapes all tastefully serve the vineyard with regional appetizing character. We also play charades with Chardonnay and have multitudes of conversations like tranquil merry-go-rounds. We always like to reveal a secret third red wine varietal to be announced right before our events.
For our most recent fall tasting October 18, 2025 we created wine score cards so our tasters could vote on our Franciscan Chert series of estate Cabernet Sauvignons 2022 and 2023 vintages from our barrel sampling department. The categories were for Appearance, Aroma, Body, Taste, and Finish with points ranging from 1 for the lightest description to 5 for the more bold characteristics. Astoundingly 60% of voters chose our 2023 Cabernet as their prime choice and 40% preferred our 2022 Cabernet. We are pleased and entertained by the results because the margin was so close. We keep in mind that the Appearance category can fluctuate because of the majestic dark rouge hues of our estate Cabs.
During this past zinful summer we released our fledgling Zinfandel 2023 Gavilan Mtns. AVA that can only be described as zen on the palate. We have already sold half of our production but we knew it would be a hit sensation. We love drinking it because it is just so plush and piquant! So we hope you can enjoy the wine too with some phenomenal cuisine and make the unbelievable apart of your reality this holiday season! We are always here for you at the winery throughout the year for direct to patron purchases. A thousand Cheers!
